...except where noted.
A 27 year old Hispanic male who, while in attendance at an Oakland Raider’s football game was assaulted, beaten and later arrested by an Alameda County Sheriff’s officer. Though the attorneys for the Sheriffs’ department claimed that Plaintiff was the cause of the incident (for having been severely intoxicated and a trouble maker), we were able to show that fellow sheriff officers were covering-up for one another and had created an untrue set of circumstances leading to a very hefty settlement for our client!
Result: Confidential
We represented an 80 year old client who tripped over an unmarked curb at a local 7-11 and fractured her shoulder. The Attorneys representing 7-11 and the contractor who created the curb in question argued that since the accident happened during daylight hours, Plaintiff was not paying attention and should have simply stepped over the curb like everyone else. We argued that there were many other alternative designs that could have been put into place to have made the curb more visible or to prevent our client and others from having to step over the curb altogether. After having visited more than 38 other 7-11 stores, Mr. Apelian was able to locate another 7-11 store that had designed a similar curb in a way that would have warned our client of the potential trip hazard.
Upon presenting this evidence, along with a strong case work-up, the Defendants’ offer to settle our client’s claim went from $0 to a $475,000 result
Our firm recently represented a 32 year old female who admitted that she was speeding on a local freeway when another vehicle made contact with her vehicle, causing her vehicle to spin out of control over 3 lanes of travel. As a result, our client sustained an injury to her lower spine and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Our client received:
$525,000 |
